Problem with my WordPress 2.7, my embedded YouTube videos, and my feed reader(s).

In my last post, I have embedded 7 YouTube videos on prediction markets (featuring Emile Servan-Schreiber of NewsFutures). While they work fine on the post within my web browser, they can&#8217-t be seen when that same post is displayed within a feed reader (such as Google Reader or Sage).

At this moment, I have no idea where the problem comes from. I would blame WordPress 2.7. (All was fine with the previous versions of WordPress.) Let me investigate that technical issue. I will post an update to this post, later on.

UPDATE: Still a mystery. A tipster tells me that the plugin &#8220-Smart YouTube&#8221- solves the problem.

UPDATE: If I embed the YouTube video in the &#8220-HTML&#8221- area, and don&#8217-t click on &#8220-Visual&#8221- before publishing, all is fine &#8212-the YouTube video will end up in the feed reader.

HubDub failed miserably in trying to predict the very unpredictable Mashable Open Web Awards.

HubDub saw a big future for the Huffington Post (in the &#8220-Politics&#8221- category) and Digg (in the &#8220-Social News&#8221- category)&#8230- [*] &#8230- but, curiously, these big-shot websites didn&#8217-t make it through. That&#8217-s strange, since the other websites they were pitched against are far less popular. The Mashable readers have a knack for fresh startups, maybe &#8212-they didn&#8217-t vote for the already established websites.

Do browse the list of the remaining contenders (among them, HubDub :-D ). There are interesting websites, there.

[*]

Huffington Post = 38%

Digg = 47%

These probabilities will crash down to zero in the coming hours/days, as these 2 websites are now eliminated from the competition, going further.

Google PageRank of Prediction Exchange Sites and Prediction Market Blogs

Just a short note for the webmasters of prediction exchange websites or the independent bloggers out there:

Google is refreshing its PageRank system, this week. (More exactly, Google is refreshing the user interface of its PageRank system. The PR system itself is actually refreshed continuously.)

– Check to see whether your site has gained or lost PR. Best wishes to you. (Midas Oracle seems to stay at 6 / 10.)

– Check on many datacenters, and more than just one time, because the change is made gradually thru the many datacenters. Don&#8217-t be fooled by one datacenter that would not be up to date, yet.

WordPress allows the Midas Oracle members to embed a chart widget or a YouTube video in their comments.

I have tested the comment system, and successfully embedded 3 chart widgets (InTrade, NewsFutures, and HubDub) in the comment area of my last post. Additionally, I embedded a YouTube video of a good piece of Jazz (WaterMelon Man by Herbie Hancock).

To do so, when you type your comment, you need to click on the &#8220-HTML&#8221- button, and insert the code here.

It&#8217-s yet another functionality (in a long list) that Midas Oracle offers to the members of the field of prediction markets.

Overcoming Whatever, Freakonomics, and the InTrade e-mailing list, look so pale, now. :-D

Midas Oracle wants you to set your screen resolution very high.

  • Set the screen resolution of your PC at 1600 x 1200 pixels or more.
  • You will probably have to augment the size of the font(s) used by your browser and your other software.

That way, you will have more things on your screen.

And you will enjoy our extended horizontal menu bar, present on top of every Midas Oracle webpage. More menu choices means more opportunities for the web visitors to discover the prediction markets. :-D Which is good for all the prediction market people and organizations listed on those webpages. :-D

Google now considers Midas Oracle as a major blog.

The Google PageRank of Midas Oracle is now: 6 / 10.

Midas Oracle is the only prediction market blog to reach that high mark.
