Adam Siegel of Inkling Markets is out of the woods on business strategy&#8230- and David Perry of Consensus Point, ignited by our Google-paper post, has vowed to tell all&#8230- (I still can believe it, but it sounds true, he really said it.)&#8230- while David &#8220-Sweetie&#8221- Pennock is applauding&#8230-

Where on Earth are NewsFutures and Xpree?? Are they napping?

Xpree, the leader in prediction market forecasting technology for corporations

No GravatarI like Mat Fogarty and Xpree, I think they bring new and needed forecasting competency to the field of prediction markets, but I think that this statement is untrue and thus its author looks a bit childish. I can&#8217-t believe that Mat Fogarty would output such a statement. To say that Xpree is &#8220-the leader&#8221- in this industry segment is like saying that The Dallas Morning News is the biggest newspaper on Earth.

REPLACE IT WITH: &#8230-&#8221-Xpree, the most innovative [*] supplier of prediction market forecasting technology for corporations&#8221-&#8230- that would be closer to the truth&#8230- and less subject to controversy&#8230- and ridicule.

[*] See rhe comments.

UPDATE: Mat Fogarty changed it for &#8220-Xpree, the most awesome prediction market forecasting technology for corporations&#8221-.

  • HubDub and Smarkets are creating what InTrade-TradeSports and BetFair-TradeFair never could: SOCIAL NETWORKING BETTING.
  • Prediction markets can be directly subsidized with a market maker, allowing all traders who provide info to improve the price to expect to profit. Also, the more fools the more informed traders should be attracted to profit from them, so the mix is endogenous.

I&#8217-m free to talk, now.

The Industry Standard is powered by Consensus Point.

The New York Times don&#8217-t print that, but they print that MIT CCI&#8217-s Thomas Malone (branded in the piece as a prediction market evangelizer) has been advising The Industry Standard.

I spotted dozens of news articles on the Industry Standard&#8217-s re-launching. Their spin doctor did a good job. :-D

By the way, speaking of media-managed prediction exchanges, the CNN prediction exchange has some prediction markets with each a total of transactions in the magnitude of 50,000. That&#8217-s awesome. Congrats to Inkling Markets. Mike Giberson (who has become an expert in MSR trading) is one of the traders, probably&#8230-

Bet2Give on CNBC: High impacting media infiltration

No GravatarCNBC – The Closing Bell – Maria Bartiromo interviewed NewsFutures&#8217- Norris Clark about Bet2Give and about NewsFutures&#8217- enterprise prediction markets. It was great. Great.

The VideoThe Video

If Emile Servan-Schreiber or Norris Clark put the video on YouTube, I will embed it in a blog post on Midas Oracle. And if they send me the transcript, I will publish it. It was great. The visuals were great &#8212-like slides. Very good. We&#8217-re making progress, folks.

Some remarks: I didn&#8217-t like that Norris Clark defined Bet2Give as a &#8220-prediction market&#8220-, as opposed to a prediction exchange. And I object about talking about a &#8220-stock market of future events&#8221-. It&#8217-s a derivative exchange for future events, rather.

Bet2Give on CNBC

UPDATE: NewsFutures CEO Emile Servan-Schreiber comments&#8230-

This &#8220-Sinning &amp- Winning&#8221- tag line below the screen is very strange, since Bet2Give is explicitly about neither. It goes to show how deeply the association between betting and sinning is rooted in the American psyche. By that measure, we&#8217-ve got a looooong way to go still before widespread acceptance of PMs [= prediction markets], not to mention legalization.
