Thomas Malone is a smart man, and his institution is a great idea. But I can&#8217-t stand that:

I am fed up with the academics who are overselling the wisdom of crowds. Enough already.

    This concept seems to be more like an electronic suggestion box, not unlike those being tried in a variety of enterprises. If we keep in mind that they are not prediction markets, but rather examples of collective intelligence, I don’t see the harm.

    Now, if someone was running a prediction market to forecast actual climate change, that would be ridiculous.
