2010 -> IBM was granted 5,896 patents. -> Apple was granted 563 patents.

Apple represents the future of computing, while IBM is a paper tiger.

There is a disconnect somewhere.

Patents are a contrarian indicator, perhaps a legal arbitrage strategy over an innovation strategy.

Hewlett-Packard under Carly Fiorina (a resounding failure) is one example. Fiorina’s main snake-oil distraction when asked for leadership credentials is to claim the huge increase of patents under her tenure.

    What poppycock.
