He’s wrong about many things. Ordinary punters (the losers betfair want to keep) will gradually move over to betdaq. Some of the big players (who provide the liquidity, but not necessarily turnover) are dependent on betfair because their bots are – they will only move over when there is sufficient liquidity elsewhere. So, at some point we could see a tipping point where betfair could lose it all. Worst case scenario, betfair will lose a large chunk of their market share. It will also become clear that it is the average punter who will attract the traders, not the other way around.

As for in-running, it’s not the holy grail. A lot of people don’t even want to bet in-running (and they shouldn’t, because it will cost them money), but they do so because they can’t resist the temptation (of greening up).

I should refine this a bit, but it’s late. Either way, betfair will lose. Because people don’t like to be taxed, especially by betfair. The thought alone, the mere possibility of being taxed makes one feel uncomfortable. That goes for me too, and I have nothing in my account…

I really shouldn’t talk too much, because before you know it, betfair might actually listen to some of this.

    Night all.
