Why the fuck would bloggers embed BetFair’s chart widgets if their blog readers can’t see these charts when using feed readers (like Google Reader)?

Once again, we can see plainly the incompetence of the BetFair team when it comes to blogging. They don’t have the first clue. In spite of my blogging and e-mailing this issue for years. So, not only are they totally incompetents, but they are also stubborn in their ineptitude. RSS is no MIT-level business —it is spelled “Really Simple Syndication”. If it “simple”, then BetFair should be able to figure it, one day, in the next coming decade —we hope.

For your information, here’s the webpage with the chart widget.

Addendum: InTrade, NewsFutures and HubDub’s chart widgets do go into feeds. They got it. And they have gotten it for years.

Here is the problematic:

- Midas Oracle is updated many times a day, with interesting stuff about prediction markets, collective forecasting, and other topics. In all logic, the number of Midas Oracle feed subscribers is increasing slowly but regularly.

- Odd Head is updated each time the Catholic Pope contributes to the progress of humanity (that is, rarely). Still, the number of Odd Head feed subscribers is increasing slowly but regularly —too.

I feel humiliated. So, here are my questions to you:

How come that guy who rarely updates his blog can see his number of feed subscribers increasing at the same pace as mine?

What Internet marketing strategy and tactic are you proposing so that the number of Midas Oracle feed subscribers could increase at a higher speed than his?

Be sure to understand my problematic:

I am happy his blog is successful. I just want to outpace him. Just a motivation. No animal will be hurt.

For your information, I take the stats in Google Reader (the most popular feed reader). Type the name of a blog in the “Add A Subscription” box to spot the stats.

Contact moi confidentially. NOT A WORD TO THAT RESEARCH SCIENTIST.

It should be white-hat, natural, organic techniques. No fool play.

I’ll make up to you —other than monetarily.

A tipster tells me that the plugin “Smart YouTube” solves the problem.

I won’t install the plugin before I get reliable info from the WordPress authorities.

UPDATE: If I embed the YouTube video in the “HTML” area, and don’t click on “Visual” before publishing, all is fine —the YouTube video will end up in the feed reader.

In my last post, I have embedded 7 YouTube videos on prediction markets (featuring Emile Servan-Schreiber of NewsFutures).

In my last post, I have embedded 7 YouTube videos on prediction markets (featuring Emile Servan-Schreiber of NewsFutures). While they work fine on the post within my web browser, they can’t be seen when that same post is displayed within a feed reader (such as Google Reader or Sage).

At this moment, I have no idea where the problem comes from. I would blame WordPress 2.7. (All was fine with the previous versions of WordPress.) Let me investigate that technical issue. I will post an update to this post, later on.

UPDATE: Still a mystery. A tipster tells me that the plugin “Smart YouTube” solves the problem.
