Start-Ups Hedging Their Bets On Online-Gambling Legislation.

Wall Street Journal:

Gerard Cunningham, president of BetFair US, the world’s largest legal online gaming company, isn’t confident that the bills will get their proper hearing in Congress soon.

“The challenges those bills face is the amount of things going on in Washington,” Cunningham said. “They have other concerns now… maybe next year… maybe the year after.”

A New Chance for Online Gambling in the U.S.

Analysts say one possibility for European companies like PartyGaming, should the ban be lifted, would be to form partnerships with American casino operators. That would allow the European companies to share their online expertise. Operating alone, they might struggle to obtain licenses, given their history of run-ins with U.S. law enforcement, analysts said.
