Once again, we can see plainly the incompetence of the BetFair team when it comes to blogging. They don’t have the first clue. In spite of my blogging and e-mailing this issue for years. So, not only are they totally incompetents, but they are also stubborn in their ineptitude. RSS is no MIT-level business —it is spelled “Really Simple Syndication”. If it “simple”, then BetFair should be able to figure it, one day, in the next coming decade —we hope.

Addendum: InTrade, NewsFutures and HubDub’s chart widgets do go into feeds. They got it. And they have gotten it for years.

BetFair’s crappy chart widgets were crafted by DeLuxe Corporation. Yet another web service provider to avoid.

UPDATE: Correction. Even though the Oscars 2009 is now a past event (it is midnight time, Pacific Time), InTrade has the prediction markets listed in their live section. Bizarre. They are still open. I wonder whether that means that InTrade is in such a dire situation that they cannot afford anymore to have Irish employees working at night in Ireland.

Same thing for BetFair. Where are the expired charts, Mike Robb?

If I had an easy and quick access to the expired charts of InTrade, BetFair, NewsFutures and HubDub, I could establish and publish a comparison between Nate Silver and the prediction markets.

Once again, this proves that our prediction exchanges are run by incompetents who can’t spell “usability”.

Is this a knockout comp? The graph looks too mathematical to be anything else.

If the teams are knocked out of the competition (or mathematically have no chance) then thats going to improve the probability of the other remaining teams. I.e. 8 equal teams would have a 12.5%, 4 get knocked out and the remaining 4 would jump to 25%, 2 more and its 50/50%.

The probability of the Steelers in the latter part of the graph jump from 20% to 40% to 70%(80%) nearly doubling. Important information in the graph, the ranges of 19-21% and 39-41% etc, is smoothed out and would be where “the masses” affect the price.

The final 2 teams jump up in the last week, but if the graph was somewhat normalised to take out the knockout effect, it might be easier to see if the Cardinals improved their % (24 to 30) while Steelers (80 to 70) went down.
