Warren Buffett stated that he likes to invest in business models that he understands. OK. Now, has he ever invested in Google? If “no”, then doesn’t that mean that this guy is an old schmuck?

It’s more about predictability. Unless there is a massive disaster, those rails will stay there and the central US will remain populated for the next 50 years, and trains will likely remain relatively energy efficient for bulk transport.
What Google does is much more difficult to predict.. Even if they are the world’s most powerful company in 2020, how will they make most of their money, exactly?
Not to mention price.
Google is the best Internet startup. If you don’t understand Google’s business model, are you really qualified as a financial analyst? (talking generally, not about you in particular)
Sure, but I don’t know what you’re getting at. Again, “don’t understand” is just false-modest code for “other things are more predictable to me.”
