Timetric is a service for storing, searching, graphing and publishing the world’s statistical data.

Timetric

See Jed Christiansen for how prediction exchanges and prediction market analysts could make use of this service, but I dislike the fact that Timetric charts don’t go into feeds.

  1. I’m sure they would like their charts go into feeds, it’s probably just further down their development path.

    • Jed, I am not so sure. Google Reader and else block Javascript and other scripts. So it is a fundamental problem, here. NewsFutures and InTrade chart widgets are simple, involve no javascript, they just hot-link to an outside image (the chart) with an embedded link. My advice is to make the widget as simple as possible, no scripts, so it goes into feeds, and then if the user click on the chart widget, the link transports you to a page where there is a more sophisticated widget, allowing interactions with the user, and that have those scripts.

Problem is that if your widget don’t go into feeds all the feed subscribers won’t see it. And the people who subscribe are the more advanced people, the core people who are more likely to test brand-new things, and re-blog about it, and spread the word.

Make widgets as simple as possible. Then on the website, deploy the sophistication.
