For me all this twitter stuff seems like reinventing the wheel and it`s square this time. Instant messaging had all those things long long time ago and far better. IM took the 1 to 1 or group angle where twitter started as a broadcaster, 1 to many. Now its trying to be IM.

Sometimes the crowd are so wrong :-)

*Admits to having a twit account about a year ago for investigative purposes – never been back since.

  2. I am, too, investigating this Twitter thing. It is a more complex thing that you describe. However, my assessment is that it encourages superficial conversations. When people spend too much time on Twitter, they don’t write long and deep reports —which score well with Google when posted online. It is better to invest one’s time in some kind of deep work, as opposed to superficial conversations.

Sure, by all means use it for trivial pleasure or as a marketing tool. No matter how bad it is as an advancement in technology or social interaction. People use it and your audience is people. I just hope something better is around the corner.

  4. I’ve been using Twitter on and off for quite a while, but recently have found it very useful. I never used IM; I generally detest it, to be honest, but Twitter has a different purpose.

Chris, I do agree that it focuses on quick interactions, and that blogging provides a depth of thought that balances well with Twitter.
