The accused company (NF) spent a good deal of time trying to deal with this issue. They went into the technicalities of all this (which is quite arcane for a non-IT person like moi), and I can assure you that they are not smiling at all about this.

NF sent me all the technical info to explain to me how the thing was done. Indeed, it was possible for somebody registering a website to cover his footprints and to make like another company was web-hosting the site.

What is in cause here is the lying and the double speak from a someone.

And, Mike, you know only 50% of the whole thing.

Mike, the problem is that NewsFutures looks bad, at first glance, so I will spend some time telling my readers that Emile has nothing with that.

(I don’t think Emile thinks it is so much fun, frankly. Ask him and you will see.)

Well, maybe not fun to be called a “fraud”, but I imagine that Chris has developed a pretty thick skin and is mostly imperious to such insults.

Overall, it is sort of flattering to Chris that someone would go to all of this trouble.

In fact it is so flattering to CFM, that I almost suspect that CFM himself is behind this little episode. The reader should ask himself, “Do I think Chris Masse would employ mildly devious methods to generate controversy and interest in his site?” My answer is “maybe.”

“Is Masse technically skilled with internet services so as to cover his tracks, if he did in fact do this.” My answer is “certainly.”

“Is Masse clever enough to execute such a scheme.” My answer is that Masse is clever, but I’m not sure he is clever enough.

Overall, I lean toward the idea that someone else is responsible, but I haven’t completely shaken the thought that the Midas Oracle bombaster-in-chief himself is responsible.
