Emile Servan-Schreiber says that France’s new law on Internet betting is totally “idiotic”, since it will allow only the pari-mutuel systems, and will exclude the prediction markets (a.k.a. betting markets).

A slight correction to your post is needed: France initially wanted to allow only parimutuel betting, but now also plans to accept bookmakers as well, since most off-shore barbarians are bookmakers. However, the current project specifically excludes betting exchanges, of which prediction markets are a subgroup, on the dubious grounds that they enable more fraud for lack of central operator.
