IN-PLAY BETTING: BetFair is already compliant with the Gambling Commission’s first pointer.

The UK Gambling Commission is not “coming after BetFair and Betdaq”. They’ll be looking at all operators. Almost all UK-based betting operators (betting exchanges and bookmakers) offer “in-play” betting, these days.

The UK Gambling Commission’s approach (so far) to in-play betting is to insist that bookmakers and betting exchanges tell bettors and traders that “live” TV reporting of sports events is actually delayed a bit —and that some people may be watching the action ahead of them.

Only one betting company in the UK is already compliant with this standard, and displays warnings to its customers: BetFair.

    Deep throat,

first of all, you’re wrong. Betdaq, betfair’s main competitor, show these warnings as well. Secondly, many customers have had to spend/waste many hours to get where we are today. And thirdly, neither betfair nor betdaq fully comply to the wishes of ”the public” as formulated by the GC.
Which makes me wonder why you brought it up in the first place.

@Medemi: Thanks for your comment. We will see what the Gambling Commission says, next.

It was my campaign in late 2006 which directly led to the warnings on BF markets :-) :-)
