I’ll be giving a short talk. It could have reasonably been either Ken Kittlitz or me, since we’ve both been associated with Foresight Institute (not related to Foresight Exchange) in the past. I assume it was easier to invite me because I’m local. We both helped run a real-money internal market (using Ken’s software) among members for a few years. This was unusual, since it’s the only domestic real-money market I know of with a broad range of questions where the money wasn’t put up by the sponsoring organization. The value of the underlying shares was indexed to the value of SPDRs (the money was actually invested in SPDRs) since the market was intended to cover very long term questions.
That market was shut down when FI brought in a CEO who couldn’t see how to categorize the investment account for an audit and decided a simple audit was the more important objective.
