One Response to Sermo harvests the wisdom of… physicians.

  1. Keith Anderson says:

A quick summary of Sermo’s model:

    * Their community is free for physicians, who must authenticate their credentials.
    * Some physicians are financially rewarded for their “astute observations and clinical insights”
    * Sermo highlights the usefulness of the “insight” to physicians themselves, but the money comes mostly from two places: big pharma and institutional investors. A few months ago, I read that they were generating about $500k / mo.

They do not use prediction markets per se, but they should. And I can envision a similar model being applied in other verticals where authenticating credentials is possible.
