Your blog is a better representation of who you are than your résumé is, and can give a truer picture of what your skills might really include.

Via Life Hacker… The Blog is the New Résumé + Roundup of “The Blog is the New Résumé” Discussion:
[...] Blogging is the perfect way for a candidate to give an employer a more detailed sales pitch—to show they can “talk the talk” (as opposed to just fill a resume with buzzwords). I can’t think of a reason for any serious tech professional to not have a blog. Not only does it serve as an excellent notebook for storing ideas and links, but it can come in handy in a job hunt where what interviewers really want to just know what, professionally (and somewhat personally), engages you on a day to day basis. How often do you look at a resume and wonder what exactly the person’s role on a project was? Well, if the person blogged about it then you would have a better idea—and you would know if the role would fit in with your team. [...]
PROs:
- Writing your blog makes you think and structures your memory.
- Documenting things on your blog may also be useful to others.
CONs:
- If you blog a lot, the jealous people who maintain mediocre blogs will start thinking, “Hey, this guy/gal should get a life”.
- “Loose Lips Might Sink Ships.”

Publishing Your Knowledge On The Web + Marketing Your Internet Presence:
- The discussion above is only part one of the problematic. The part two is assessing the marketing skill of the blogger (PageRank, web traffic, number of subscribers, impact in their industry). And what you’ll find out is that only a fistful of pertinent bloggers are popular —that is, are sociable— and thus do matter for their industry.

Not the case, in my experience. Anything that can’t be distilled into a two-sentence bullet point (at most) puts recruiters to sleep.
You should go for *vertical* recruiters… recruiters who know your industry.
