Inkling Markets: Try Before You Buy. — REDUX

Adam Siegel, the Inkling CEO, on a previous piece (about user-created prediction markets):

Letting people create their own markets is not simply a marketing ploy – it’s to allow people to see what they would get if they were to use our product in their corporate or academic setting. We also have those who just enjoy setting up their own markets for entertainment purposes and that’s perfectly fine too despite the fact we make no money off them whatsoever and never expect to. “Try before you buy” is a long-used method of attracting people to a product and is useful for a potential customer to see what they are getting in to. It’s no different than allowing someone to go for a test drive before they buy a car. We are trying to be open, transparent, and as easy to work with as possible in all aspects of our business. And despite the fact that prediction markets have been around for quite some time, many people are still completely unfamiliar with them. In our opinion there was no better way to introduce the concept than to let them try to run their own.

I’m republishing this piece because I think that more prediction market solution vendors should have this marketing philosophy. Kudos to the Chicago Boys!!!
