From the Hollywood Stock Exchange:
Borat movie film is great success, make benefit Fox glorious box office weekend.

Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan (BORAT) broke out with a glorious $26.5 million debut giving Fox (FOXX) a surprise winner at the weekend box office. Scaled back to an opening in just 837 theaters, the mockumentary averaged a whooping $31,607 per theater, the third best ever for a wide release behind only Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and Spider-Man. Sacha Baron Cohen (SBCOH) has stayed in character as the boorish Kazakhstani journalist ever since The Cannes Film Festival back in May and his relentless promotion paid off. With overwhelmingly positive reviews and word of mouth, Borat will encounter even sexier times ahead as the R-rated renegade satire expands to over 2500 theaters this weekend.
